We seek a means of turning the tables on the Hydra - to mind-control them as they do us.
While it is antithetical to our interests that the aliens can so easily seize control of any human mind, it is very much in our interests to be able control minds ourselves - whether Hydra or human. Replicating the alien pherocyte cells has, as expected, been highly challenging due to the profound biological differences between us and them. In fact, it has proven impossible. Artificially replicating their effects, however, has not. The playing field has at last been leveled.
